The president of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said persistent tensions between the Wagner mercenary group and the Russian military had been “mishandled”, leading to last weekend’s “showdown” between the two sides.

“The situation got away from us,” he admitted to reporters, “then we thought it would be resolved, but it wasn’t.”

“In this story, there are no heroes,” according to Belarusian news agency Belta.

Speaking to military and security officials in the presence of journalists, Lukashenko said he had ordered Belarusian military forces to are ready for battle during the Wagner Rebellion.

“I gave all the necessary orders for the army to be ready for battle,” said Lukashenko, a key ally of Vladimir Putin, Belarusian state news agency Belta reported.

The Belarusian president’s order is indicative of the concern caused by Wagner’s brief mutiny. Its leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin, must, according to the Kremlin, be confined to Belarus after agreeing to end the standoff. Lukashenko appears with enhanced prestige after the success his mediation between Prigozhin and Putin.

Meanwhile, aircraft Embraer Legacy 600registered in Russia and linked to the head of the Russian mercenary organization Wagner in US sanctions documents, traveled to Belarus today from Russia.

The website Flightradar24 shows that the business jet traveled to Belarus early in the morning.

Under an agreement brokered by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Saturday to end an armed mutiny by Wagner mercenaries, the head of Prigozhin expected to go to Belarus.

THE Russian FSB, the powerful Intelligence and Security Service of Russia, officially announced that withdraws the prosecution against the mercenary organization-company Wagner for a stop, Russian news agencies report.

According to the RIA agency, the prosecution was terminated because the perpetrators stopped their actions “as the immediate aim of committing the crime”.

The agreement that resolved the crisis on Saturday includes a Kremlin pledge that Wagner fighters who took part in the standoff would not be prosecuted and they will be allowed to return to their bases.
