That night, 10 people died from suffocation caused by overcrowding at the front of the stage.
THE Travis Scott (Travis Scott) and his organizers Astroworld Festival will not face criminal charges related to the deaths of 10 people who were suffocated when the crowd rushed the stage during of his appearance at the festival in October 2021.
A grand jury in Houston made the decision Thursday, the Houston Chronicle reported.
It is noted that 50,000 fans attended the concertwhich led to the unfortunate incident during Scott’s performance at Houston’s NRG Park.
At a post-concert press conference, Houston Fire Chief Samuel Peña explained that the crowd began crowding toward the front of the stage at 9 p.m. but soon there was panic with people running for safety.
At that point, Scott stopped the concert several times to ask security to help the audience and members of the fire department were sent into the crowd to rescue the injured.
“My client will not face criminal charges or any prosecution for his participation in the AstroWorld festival,” the famous rapper’s lawyer, Kent Schaffer, told Variety. “Today’s decision by the district attorney confirms what we’ve known all along, that Travis Scott is not responsible for the tragedy at AstroWorld.”
