A 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck off the Indonesian island of Java on Friday night, injuring at least 10 people, while another died of a possible heart attack during the quake, the country’s disaster management agency said. (BNPB).

The earthquake caused minor material damage to hundreds of homes, offices, schools and health facilities in Yogyakarta and Central Java provinces, BNPB spokesman Abdul Muhari said.

Indonesia’s Geophysical Agency (BMKG) said the earthquake, which had a focal depth of 25 kilometers, was felt in several cities in Yogyakarta province as well as in East and Central Java, Indonesia’s most populous island.

No tsunami warning was issued.

Indonesia, in Southeast Asia, is located on the so-called “Pacific Ring of Fire,” a highly seismic region where various tectonic plates come together and cause many earthquakes.
