In the next few days, the platform is expected to open for the submission of Computerized Report for admission to HEIs and Parallel Computerized Report for admission to Public IEK
One in four GEL candidates will find themselves close to their first-choice schools, while 35% of candidates are estimated to find themselves outside of universities. In addition, the sought-after faculties in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Scientific Fields – Law, Psychology, Polytechnics and Business Administration – will have an increase in their bases. On the other hand, there will be a clear decline in the bases of Medical schools. These conclusions are derived from the analysis of the statistical data of the candidates’ scores that have been made public.
According to the education analyst Christos Hatzitegas, the lowest score “threshold” for entering Higher Education, which results from the average scores of the candidates in the four courses, are formed as follows:
For the 1st Scientific Field (Humanities), at 9.4.
For the 2nd Scientific Field (Positive Studies), at 9.9.
For the 3rd Scientific Field (Health Studies), at 9.3.
For the 4th Scientific Field (Economic and Informatics Studies), at 8.4.
“Candidates with a lower average score will not be able to find an option in the Computerized Report and thus will be directed to fill in the Parallel Computerized, for their entry into a Public IEK, based on the Leaving Certificate,” explained Mr. Hattzigetas.
In particular, on how the bases will move this year, from the analysis of the statistical data, the following emerges:
For the 1st Scientific Field (Humanities): An increase in the bases is expected in the higher departments, with points over 16,000. In particular for the sought-after schools of the Field, Law and Psychology, the rise will be clear, of the order of 350-400 points. However, for schools below 15,000 points the picture will be completely different, as a downward trend is expected to be recorded in several schools. One of the factors that will influence this trend is the increase in the number of admissions.
For the 2nd Scientific Field (Positive Studies): The fact that approximately 1,000 fewer candidates competed this year in this Field is expected to create opportunities towards the bottom of the score (closer to 9.9, that is), with bases marking a drop of around 200- 250 molecules. However, also in the 2nd EP, in the sought-after departments of the Polytechnics – such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering – they are expected to see a small, but clear increase in their bases, of the order of 150-250 points.
For the 3rd Scientific Field (Health Studies): Although small, there will be a clear drop in the bases for Medical Schools, around 150 points. However, it seems that there will be many and important opportunities for success in schools of this Field for those who overcome the score “threshold” of 9.3.
For the 4th Scientific Field (Economic and Informatics Studies): The picture in this Field will be special this year, as on the one hand this year’s performance of the candidates was identical to that of last year (at 10.45 the average performance), on the other hand another, the number of candidates has increased by 1,445 people. This data is expected to initiate an increase in bases, which will be greater in sought-after departments such as Management Science and Technology and Business Administration departments. Marginal fluctuations are expected towards the rating “bottom” of 8.4.
And now, the Computer Science
In the coming days, it is expected that the platform for the submission of Computerized Report for admission to HEIs and Parallel Computerized Report for admission to Public IEKs will be opened. It is reminded that this year, the submission of Computer Science will take place in one phase, instead of two.
In addition, the scores of the special courses are expected to be announced in early July.
Regarding the announcement of the results of the Pan-Hellenic 2023 (that is, the admission bases), according to sources from the Ministry of Education, this is expected to take place at the end of July.
