Six teenagers and an adult were arrested after vandalizing shops in Lausanne during riots inspired by those in France, Swiss police said on Sunday.

Those arrested destroyed shop windows by throwing stones, he explained.

“Echoing the protests and riots raging in France, over a hundred youths gathered in the city center of Lausanne and indulged in destruction and looting of shops. Seven persons were brought in,” the Lausanne police said in a statement.

The demonstration followed “appeals on social networking sites,” according to the same source.

“Repeatedly, members of which had to disperse young, masked attackers, who threw stones and Molotov cocktails at them,” without however reporting any injuries, the Swiss city’s police added.
