After five nights of riots that surpassed any previous, France seemed to be returning to calmer conditions, yesterday Sunday experienced a – comparatively – quieter night.

The president announced that today (Monday) he will meet at the presidential palace with the presidents of the National Assembly and the Senate, while Prime Minister Elizabeth Bourne will meet at the prime minister’s palace with the presidents of the parliamentary groups, with the aim of exchanging views on what happened in France from last Tuesday, when a seventeen-year-old youth was shot dead by a police officer, sparking the riots.
Also, President Macron announced that tomorrow Tuesday he will welcome to the presidential palace about 220 mayors of cities and communities where disasters occurred in the last five days.
According to a statement from the French Interior Ministry, during the riots that began last Tuesday, nearly 1,000 state and municipal buildings, 5,000 cars and 10,000 trash cans were set on fire.
250 attacks against police stations were also recorded, while over 700 police officers were injured during the incidents.
