The Hong Kong-born singer and actress, Coco Leewith dozens of hit albums, movies and TV shows, died on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, her sisters announced on social media.
Her sisters Carol and Nancy said she had been suffering from depression for several years and attempted to take her own life last Sunday. He was taken to hospital but failed to come out of the coma and died on Wednesday. He was only 48 years old.

In their statement, her sisters wrote, among other things, that this year marks the 30th anniversary of Lee’s career as a singer, during which she “won countless international accolades with top-selling songs and left audiences with stunning impressions of her excellent live performances”.
“CoCo is also known to have worked tirelessly to ‘open up’ a new world for Chinese singers in the international music scene, and she gave her all to shine for the Chinese people. We are proud of her!” they wrote.
Lee was born in Hong Kong and raised in the United States. During a visit back to Hong Kong after high school, she won first place in a singing competition, which sparked her music career.
