US President Joe Biden’s approval ratings held steady at 40 percent in early July, near the lowest levels of his presidency, while economic worries continue to preoccupy Americans, a Reuters/Ipsos poll showed this week.

The three-day online poll, which asked Americans “Do you approve or disapprove of the way Joe Biden is handling his duties as president?” and ended Monday, showed a marginal decline from a 41 percent approval rating a month earlier, within the survey’s margin of error of three percentage points.

The largest number of respondents – 21% – cited the economy as their biggest concern, followed by 15% who cited crime or corruption.

Biden’s rating is on par with his Republican predecessor, Donald Trump’s 41% at this point in his presidency, a relatively low number compared to the immediate past presidents, Democrat Barack Obama and Republican George W. Bush.

The Reuters/Ipsos poll was conducted online in English and gathered responses from 1,028 adults.
