His own version of what exactly happened in Laganas, Zakynthos at the beginning of June was given by 18-year-old James Taylor, who ended up in the hospital after being severely beaten by 4 Serbian thugs from the shop where he was having fun with his friends.

Initially, the young man revealed to the Daily Mail that the incident happened on July 4 and not July 7, as the Greek media reported. Also, the thugs claimed they beat him up because he had attacked a girl with a bottle but, according to James, that too is a lie.

As he said, the thugs of the particular store attacked him when he climbed on a chair to take a selfie with his friends and danced for a few seconds on the chair.

According to his description, one of the store’s security men tried to pull him by the arm to get off the chair. James pulled his hand away and got down but a few seconds later the club thug came back with three others and started beating the boy.

“I think he didn’t like the fact that I was strong enough to pull my hand back….”

The 18-year-old Briton added: “I was shocked at how easily they beat someone like that. I figured if you’re stupid and cause trouble, then yeah maybe. But I didn’t realize they would beat something as small as standing on a chair to take a selfie.”

“The thugs in this store just want to fight and beat people up. It’s common for tourists to be beaten,” said the 18-year-old, explaining that everyone knows about this particular club because tourists are often beaten up.

In the end he declared that he would never go to Zakynthos again while the boy’s mother said that if this happened in Britain there would be sanctions. “Why is it allowed in Greece?” he wondered.

The Daily Mail report also names the club where the incident happened as well as the Serbian bravo who savagely beat the young British tourist, warning Britons visiting the island to be careful.
