Boats operating on behalf of non-governmental organizations have rescued hundreds of people at risk in the Mediterranean in recent days.
The crew of the German ship Louise Michel boarded 62 people, including children and infants, who were in a rubber boat, informed the organization that has developed the boat – funded by the artist Banksy – via Twitter

The Mare Jonio crew rescued 208 people during two missions, the aid organization Mediterranea Saving Humans announced.

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) announced yesterday morning that 110 people had been rescued from its ship, the Geo Barents

More than 1,300 people died or went missing in the Mediterranean last year, according to figures from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), part of the UN system.
