The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, described Vladimir Putin’s decision to use “food as a weapon” as a “huge mistake” in his statements after the conclusion of the EU-CELAC Summit in Brussels.

Emanuel long emphasized that “Russia first decided to take a huge responsibility towards many countries. The Middle East, African and even Asian countries that had a lot of dependence on this agreement (note the Black Sea Grain Initiative) and will be affected by Russia’s unilateral decision.”

“Putin decided to use food as a weapon and I think it’s a huge mistake. Our responsibility is to work very closely to facilitate the exit of grains, cereals, fertilizers” he added.

Also, regarding the results of the Summit, the French President stated that “with regard to Ukraine, we have a clear rhetoric. What is important to me is that all EU members are very aligned on this, and all CELAC members are aligned, except for Nicaragua.” “It is important that we are clearly the ones who build bridges and create unity. We are doing our job supporting Ukraine, being clear, imposing sanctions on Russia as Europeans, as allies, but we must avoid a great division of this world and I believe that such a Summit is a very important contribution towards more unity,” he concluded.
