Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet Friday July 28 in Turkey with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during his official visit, the Turkish presidency announced Thursday evening.

In the press release released by the services of the Turkish head of state, it is clarified that the Israeli prime minister will visit the country a few 24 hours after the president of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, who is expected in Turkey on Tuesday, July 25.

Turkish President Erdogan “will host Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu separately in Turkey during the same week,” the text summarizes.

He will discuss “Turkish-Palestinian relations,” “the latest developments in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict,” as well as “other current international issues,” the statement added.

After years of crisis, diplomatic relations between Turkey and Israel have gradually warmed over the past year, with high-level visits, notably that of Israeli President Isaac Herzog to Ankara.

However, Turkey strongly condemned the incidents in the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem at the beginning of April, with Mr. Erdogan judging that Israel had violated a “red line”.
