Palermo airport in Sicily will remain closed on Tuesday due to the large fire that has broken out in the area, while at the same time extreme weather conditions continued to attack Italy, with heavy storms causing damage and at least two deaths in the north of the country.
The airport of the Sicilian capital will remain closedas the administration informs on Twitter, as well firefighters are working to extinguish a large fire in a nearby area which also disrupted local road and rail traffic.

The incident comes to burdens Sicily’s tourist activity at the peak of the tourist season. The main airport on the island of Catania, Italy’s fifth largest, was closed last week due to a terminal building fire and reopened for only a few flights.
