The Russian president Vladimir Putin has been invited to visit China, and plans to go to the country this October on the occasion of the Belt and Road Forum, Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov announced on Tuesday, as the war in Ukraine rages.

Putin was invited to Beijing by his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, who visited Moscow last March. “We have received the invitation and plan to go to China for the One Belt One Road forum” to be held in October, Usakov said, according to Russian news agencies.

The Kremlin’s diplomatic adviser also said that a visit by Putin to Turkey is in the plans of both countries, but still the date has not been agreed.

On Friday, at the Russia-Africa summit to be held in St. Petersburg, the Russian president plans to discuss the issue of Ukraine with African leaders. According to the Kremlin, 49 countries have confirmed their participation in this second Russia-Africa summit, after the first one held in October 2019 in Sochi on the Black Sea. Topics to be discussed at the summit include economic cooperation, energy, security, education, health and food security.

Putin will address the plenary and, according to Ushakov, intends to deliver a speech a “long speech” on Russo-African relations and “the formation of a new world order”.
