TASS reports that the Russian authorities have ruled out the scenario of a Ukrainian attack by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), such as those that occurred in recent weeks and attributed to Kiev.
One dead, eight missing and about 60 injured are the latest tolls from the explosion that rocked a factory in the town of Sergiev Posad, about 50 kilometers northeast of Moscow, earlier today.
Members of the rescue teams reported that the explosion occurred in a warehouse with pyrotechnic equipment, according to the TASS agency. More than 150 firefighters and police officers are involved in the search and rescue operation, which continues to find eight people who are missing.
Videos released on social media platforms show a huge plume of smoke rising into the sky above the blast site and broken windows in high-rise buildings.
Moscow regional governor Andrei Vorobyov said the powerful blast damaged 38 residential complexes, two schools, a sports center and a shop. He added that the facilities where the explosion occurred were leased by a private company and that he has ordered an investigation into possible violations of safety regulations.
