A peaceful settlement in Ukraine is possible only if Kiev stops hostilities and terrorist attacks, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin told TASS on Thursday, setting conditions that the Ukrainian side he is not going to accept.

“The new territorial realities must be recognized, the demilitarization and “de-Naziization” of Ukraine and the rights of its Russian-speaking citizens and national minorities must be ensured in accordance with the requirements of international law,” was Galuzin’s ultimatum to Kiev.

“For our part, we continue to maintain our principled position that a comprehensive, sustainable and just settlement is possible only if the Kiev regime stops hostilities and terrorist attacks, and its Western sponsors stop supplying the Ukrainian military with weapons.” , Galuzin said in an interview with TASS.

According to the Russian diplomat, “the initial foundations of Ukraine’s sovereignty – neutral compliance to remain outside the bloc (s.s. NATO – EU) and its non-nuclear status – must be confirmed to achieve this settlement (of the conflict)’.
