Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian today during an operation in a refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.

So far there is no comment by the Palestinian Ministry of Health nor by the Israeli army.

The director of Tabet Tabet Government Hospital in Tulkarm dr. Amin Hader told Palestinian television that the Palestinian who was killed had a bullet wound to the chest and that at least eight people were injured.

The Fatah party, which dominates the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank, announced that the dead man’s name was Mahmoud Jarad. According to the same source, he was a member of the party, but not a fighter.

Violence has worsened over the past 15 months in the West Bank, as Israeli raids and raids by Jewish settlers on Palestinian villages have increased, as well as street attacks by Palestinians.

According to a UN count at least 196 Palestinians and 24 people in Israel have been killed since January in hostilities.
