Russian forces destroyed 20 Ukrainian drones that were launched toward the Crimean peninsula early today, the Russian Defense Ministry announced.

No casualties or damage have been reported, the ministry said on the Telegram messaging app. According to the same source, Russian air defenses shot down 14 drones, while electronic warfare systems neutralized six.

Reuters was unable to independently confirm these reports.

It was not immediately clear who were targeted in the reported attacks on the Russian-annexed peninsula.

Sergei Krychkov, an adviser to the Russian-appointed governor of Crimea, said earlier that air defense systems were trying to repel an attack in various parts of the peninsula.

The relevant transport authorities in Crimea reported via Telegram that traffic on the Crimean Bridge was suspended for about two hours from 1.30am. (local time and Greek time).
