Recep Tayyip Erdoğan described the “intervention of the UN Peacekeeping Force soldiers in the area under the control of the TRNC” as an “unacceptable situation”, in statements made by Recep Tayyip Erdogan after the cabinet meeting.

According to the report of SKAI’s correspondent in Istanbul, Manolis Kostidis, the Turkish President stressed, “it is neither humane nor legal to prevent the Turkish Cypriots from reaching their homeland”, while he noted that “as a guarantor country”, Turkey does not will consent to “illegality”.

In closing, he underlined that the struggle will continue until “TRDBK” is “equally recognized on the international stage”.

Erdogan’s statements in detail:

“We have no ambitions for anyone’s land, oil, underground and surface resources. We are a nation without the taint of colonialism.

The intervention of the soldiers of the UN Peacekeeping Force in the area under the control of the “TRNC” is a situation that cannot be accepted. It is neither humane nor legal to prevent Turkish Cypriots from reaching their homeland. The UN has cast a shadow over its neutrality with unfortunate statements. We certainly do not find this intervention in good faith. It should be known that as a guarantor country, we will not consent to lawlessness, especially in the neutral zone.

The Organization of Turkish States gave the TRNC its constitutional name last year. Our struggle will continue until the “TRDBK” is recognized equally on the international stage.
