An official told the TASS news agency that “the airspace over Vnukova, Sheremetyava and Damadiedava has been closed.”
Moscow’s three largest airports suspended all arrivals and departures in the early hours of today, Russian state news agency TASS reported.
“The airspace was closed over Vnukova, Sheremetyava and Damadiyedava,” an unnamed official told the agency.
“No flights are landing and departures will be delayed,” the same source explained.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sabianin later reported that at least two drones had been shot down in the western airspace of the Russian capital.
Authorities announced a series of attacks by Ukrainian drones deep inside Russia on Monday and today, including in the Moscow region.
Ukrainian raids by UAVs and USVs on Russian territory have multiplied in recent weeks. They often target Moscow and the Crimean peninsula, which Russia annexed in 2014.
On August 5, a Ukrainian official said that Ukrainian armed forces intended to escalate drone attacks against Russian targets.
