Late this afternoon there was a heavy downpour in Milan. Within two hours, in the wider area of ​​the Italian co-capital, the firefighters received over one hundred and eighty calls.

Citizens requested the help of the fire department due to the fall of trees on major roads or damage suffered by the roofs of houses due to the strong wind.

The bad weather also caused problems for Milan’s trams and some rail connections. A man, aged 68, suffered minor head injuries from a tile which came off a building in the city centre.

Due to the fall of the tree, traffic was temporarily stopped on the motorway connecting Milan to Genoa.

The mayors of Milan and Monza closed public parks earlier today due to bad weather. The strong wind caused dozens of trees to fall, finally, in the city of Vercelli in Lombardy.
