At least four Ilyushin Il-76 transport aircraft were damaged in a drone attack on a military airport in the northwestern Russian city of Pskov, a short distance from the borders with Estonia and Latvia, Russian state news agency TASS reported.

Regional governor Mikhail Vechernikov reported a short time earlier via Telegram that the anti-aircraft defense was activated to repel an attack by UAVs.

Videos uploaded to social media sites by Russian media showed thick smoke rising from the airport, while local residents reported explosions and gunfire.

In addition, TASS, citing its sources in the Russian Civil Aviation Service, reports that the airspace around Vnukova Airport, one of the main ones in Moscow, has been closed.
