Russian territory appears defenseless against massive drone attackswith the Ukrainian war even reaching the “heart” of Russia, with drone attacks in the capital Moscow.

The BBC has counted more than 190 attacks that appear to have been taken by drones in Russia and Crimea (under Russian occupation) since the beginning of the year – based on reports in the Russian media.

The latest attacks, which targeted at least six Russian regions, are the most so far this year.

Most of the attacks up to this point have been concentrated in the regions Bryansk, Belgord and Kursk – near Russia’s western border with Ukraine – as well as in Russia’s annexed Crimea.

The Moscow region – which is about 450km from the border with Ukraine – has also been targeted the last months.

There were also approx 12 maritime drone attacks on Russian targets in the Black Seaincluding naval bases and the Crimean bridge.

Fury at the Kremlin

The report comes in the shadow of nighttime Ukrainian drone raids on Russian territory. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that The incident “will not go unpunished”, as it states Reuters.

The press representative, Maria Zakharova, during a briefing, said that the drones, some of which hit an airbase in Pskov, 400 miles from Ukraine, could not have covered such distances without information from Western countries.

The comments come after Russia said that thwarted one of Ukraine’s largest drone attacks until today in western Russia on Wednesday, shooting down drones over at least six regions.
