Billionaire Mohamed Al Fayed has died at the age of 94, almost 26 years after the death of his son, Dodi, who died along with Princess Diana in a car crash in Paris.

Mohamed Al Fayed, was an Egyptian businessman, whose residence and main business pursuits had been in the United Kingdom since the mid-1960s. His business interests included ownership of the Hôtel Ritz Paris and formerly Harrods department store and Fulham FC , both in London. As of 2023, his fortune is estimated at US$2 billion, ranking his wealth at number 1,493 in the world.

He was married to Samira Khashoggi from 1953 to 1956 and they had a son, Dodi. Dodi had an affair with Princess Diana. They were both killed in a car crash in Paris in 1997. In 1985, Fayette married Finnish former model Heini Wathen with whom he had four children.

Along with his brothers, in the 1980s he bought House of Fraser, which included the Harrods department store in Knightsbridge, London. He retained ownership of the store after the Frasers group went public until 2010, when he sold it to Qatar Holding.

He also earned the respect of Fulham FC fans after buying the west London professional club for £6 million in 1997 and saw the club enter the Premier League and European competition within a few years. In 2012 he sold the team to billionaire businessman Shahid Khan.
