The 24-year-old girl was thrown from the motorcycle she was riding, and crashed into a car and was killed on the spot
Lamentation in the NBA. THE Tiara Wheeler, the only daughter of former NBA player, Tyson Wheeler killed in an accident in southeastern Connecticut. “Tiara’s energy was infectious. She was passionate about issues of racial and social justice and always put family first,” her family wrote in their farewell.
Wheeler, 24, was riding a dirt bike that ran a red light and collided with a car in Groton, Connecticut, around 9:30 Monday night (local time).
Wheeler was thrown from the motorcycle, slammed into the car and ended up at the scene. The unidentified driver of the motorcycle was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, where he was treated in critical condition earlier this week, according to a hospital spokesperson.
The pair were among a group of motorcycles and four-wheeled vehicles (ATVs), some of which which had their lights off, were driving recklessly and not they offered no help to the victims, police said.
“What is most troubling is that someone who may have been traveling with them stopped at the accident and instead of providing aid to the seriously injured, move the motorcycle off the road,” the Groton police chief told the CT Insider newspaper.
Tyson Wheeler, who played for them Denver Nuggets in 1999 he told the newspaper that his daughter, who will graduate in 2021 from Fairfield University, was “an achiever.”
