Japan has not provided military support to Ukraine, as it is not allowed to under its Constitution
Japan’s Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi paid a visit to Ukraine today, the Japanese embassy in Kiev announced, of which Tokyo is among its strongest supporters.
“Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi arrived in Ukraine“, the embassy pointed out on Facebook, posting a video showing the diplomat at the train station in Kyiv.
The Japanese foreign ministry said Hayashi will discuss Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction efforts with his counterpart Dmytro Kuleba. The Japanese minister is accompanied by representatives of Japanese companies, the same source noted.
Tokyo has followed Western countries in imposing sanctions on Moscow for its invasion of Ukraine, while offering Kiev economic and humanitarian aid. He also took the rare step of sending defense equipment to Ukraine and sheltering those fleeing the conflict.
However, Japan has not provided military support to Ukraine, as it is not allowed to under its Constitution.
