“The problem is the departures from Tunisia, the necessary control is not exercised,” said the Italian Minister of Transport
In his statements to its members Union of Foreign Correspondents of Romethe secretary of the League and the Italian Minister of Transport, Matteo Salvini, referred to the increase in the arrivals of migrants and refugees recorded in Lower Italy.
“The problem is the departures from Tunisia, the necessary control is not exercised. And I can say that this increase in arrivals to Lampedusa is not accidental. I think that someone wants to put in a difficult position, a government that is “not convenient”, said Salvini.
“Human trafficking is in the hands of organized crime, it is about profits of millions of euros and an “act of war” against Italy. If the arrivals continue at this rate, my country will collapse,” said the Italian Minister of Transport and Deputy Prime Minister Meloni.
According to Salvini “the death of the child of only five months, last night outside Lampedusa, symbolizes the social and political death of Europe” and “Italy has been left alone, with Germany and France which, in the last hours, they decided to close their doors”.
He also underlined that “if Italy is forced to deal with immigration and refugees alone, no kind of intervention can be ruled out” while praising the initiatives undertaken so far by the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni. “Within ten months, he did everything possible, through diplomatic channels, to achieve a substantial result,” said the leader of the League.
“The main issue is to protect the southern borders of Europe”, underlined Matteo Salvini. In relation, finally, to the European elections next June, he stood “in favor of an alliance of all the forces that are considered alternatives to the left and the socialists, so that the “Ursula majority” does not continue to rule the EU”.
