An 11-month-old baby girl died in Virginia, USA, when the woman who looked after her for 6 hours forgot her in the car. Along with the family dog.

The tragedy unfolded when police were called at 4pm on Tuesday to Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital as a man went to the emergency room with a “dead child” wrapped in a black plastic garbage bag.

The tangle unraveled and led to the arrest of the 40-year-old nanny of little Miriam, who was also arrested for criminal child neglect and animal abuse.

The woman looked after the baby regularly. In the early hours of Tuesday, a friend of hers called her and asked her to buy him cigarettes because he was taking care of an elderly man and couldn’t leave him.

The 40-year-old took the baby and the dog together and went to serve him by car. The nanny then returned home, locked the car, forgetting the baby and the dog inside, went into the house and fell asleep.

During the day the temperature exceeded 30 degrees.

The 40-year-old woke up at 2:30 p.m. to a phone call. Then she remembered the baby and the dog and ran to the car, but both were dead.

According to official data, this was the 26th case of a child being left in a car in the US.
