The poll shows the AfD gaining by one point to 21%, the highest ever recorded for the party in this poll
The Alternative sets a new poll record for Germania (AfD) in the latest opinion poll, with the Christian Union (CDU/CSU) maintaining its lead, leaving behind the parties of the government coalition (SPD, Greens, FDP).
According to the “Political Barometer” on behalf of the second channel of the German public television ZDF, CDU/CSU remain first, with a percentage of 26%, the AfD gains one point to 21%, the highest ever for the party in this poll followed by the Social Democratic Party (SPD) with 17% (-1), the Greens with 16% (+1), the Liberals (FDP) with 6% (-1) and the Left with 5%.
The frustration of the Germans is clear to the question about the course of the economy. 60% say it is downward, 33% stable and only 5% believe it is upward.
The overall work of the government is judged by 55% as “bad” and by 39% as “good”. The most popular politician remains Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, followed by Foreign Minister Analena Burbok and in third place is Chancellor Olaf Solz.
However, German public opinion is showing divided when asked about the war in Ukraine. 56% believe that it will not end through diplomatic channels, while 41% have the opposite opinion. In addition, 41% believe that in order to end the war, the West should pressure Ukraine to cede territory to Russia, and 43% answer the question in the negative.
