A 58-year-old male Newcastle fan has reportedly been stabbed in Milan’s Navigli area ahead of the two teams’ Champions League group stage opener.

According to the gazzetta dello sport, it is not yet known whether it was a fight or an ambush and whether it was due to football reasons or something else.

The 58-year-old was rushed to the hospital, where it was found that he had knife wounds on his back and hands, and his health condition is not considered particularly serious.

On Tuesday morning (19/09), a Newcastle fan tweeted images of a fan badly beaten and bleeding, claiming the English club’s friend had been attacked ahead of their Champions League game against ‘ Rossoneri” in Milan.

Another Newcastle fan wrote characteristically on social networks: “The Italians again with knives. Take care in general and look out for each other.” The same person claimed: “A Newcastle fan was stabbed last night in Milan.”

It is noted that Newcastle are returning to the Champions League after two decades and tonight (19/09, 19:45) they will face Milan in the group stage of the top club image.
