The Turkish president said that his country supports the steps taken by Azerbaijan to preserve its territorial integrity
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan pledged today, before the UN General Assembly, that he would “intensify his (diplomatic) efforts” in order to “bring an end to the war” in Ukraine.
“Since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war, we have been trying to keep our Russians and Ukrainian friends around the (negotiating) table, believing in the idea that war will have no winners and peace no losers,” said Erdogan from the floor of the General Assembly.
Referring to the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh, the Turkish president said that his country supports the steps taken by Azerbaijan to preserve its territorial integrity. He emphasized that Nagorno-Karabakh is part of Azeri territory and the imposition of a different regime on this enclave is “unacceptable”.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry besides called the “concerns” that led to the Azeri military operation in Nagorno-Karabakh “reasonable”h, although he invited Azerbaijan and Armenia to return to the dialogue. “Azerbaijan was forced to take the measures it deems necessary on its own territory,” the statement of the Turkish Foreign Ministry emphasizes.
