Three Palestinians were killed Tuesday night in Jenin by Israeli fire, the Palestinian health ministry said, while the Israeli army said it carried out an operation in the city’s refugee camp in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

Nearly 30 people were injured, the ministry added. The army announced for its part that a military drone “hit”, without further details, the Jenin camp.

According to a statement from the Israeli Defense Ministry, Minister Yoav Galand considered the military raid in Jenin to be one of the “necessary measures to prevent terrorist activities”.

“The situation is not clear. There are noises of explosions and gunfire and we cannot move around,” Mahmoud Sandi, director of the Palestinian Red Crescent in Jenin, told AFP earlier.

The governor of Jenin, Kamal Abu Rob, said the Israeli army withdrew after “targeting a house”, which had recently been used as a shelter for a Palestinian wanted by Israeli security services.

The Israeli military said it returned “fire received by its forces during an anti-terrorist operation in the Jenin camp”.

On Tuesday night, Palestinian presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina condemned continued Israeli “aggression”.
