A ceasefire has been announced in Nagorno-Karabakh, Sputnik Armenia reported.

Armenians in the enclave agreed to Azerbaijan’s demand to stop fighting and disarm, IFAX reported, adding that they agreed to the disbandment and complete disarmament of the Nagorno-Karabakh army.

According to the same agency, enclave Armenians will meet with Azeri authorities on September 21.

“An agreement was reached to withdraw the remaining units and soldiers of the armed forces of Armenia (…) and to disband and completely disarm the armed formations of the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army,” announced the presidency of the Armenian separatists.

He also clarified that the first talks concerning the “reintegration” of the territory in Azerbaijan will be held tomorrow, September 21, in the city of Yevlak, Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani authorities have confirmed the reaching of a ceasefire agreement as early as today in the separatist region of Nagorno-Karabakh and the holding of the first talks tomorrow on the reintegration of this disputed enclave into Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry announced, after the separatists, that Nagorno-Karabakh forces would disarm and that a cease-fire would take effect at 12:00 GMT, less than 24 hours after the start of Azerbaijan’s military operation to bring it back under checking his pocket.

Armenia had previously announced that at least 32 people were killed and more than 200 injured in the attack launched by Azerbaijani forces in the disputed enclave yesterday.

“There are so far 32 dead, over 200 injured, including 7 dead (including 2 children) and 35 wounded (including 13 children) among the civilian population,” Anahit Manasian, an official who appointed by the authorities and charged with the protection of human rights.

Earlier, a former senior official of the Armenian administration of the Nagorno-Karabakh enclave announced today that almost 100 people lost their lives and hundreds were injured in what he called the “big war” that Azerbaijan unleashed yesterday.

“This is essentially an ordinary operation of ethnic cleansing and for a war in which many civilians have now lost their lives,” said Ruben Vardanian, former head of the breakaway region’s government

Azerbaijan rejects the accusations that its purpose is ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh and it states that it will protect the rights of the enclave’s Armenian citizens under its Constitution.
