THE Russian President Vladimir Putin officially accepted today the invitation to visit her China in October, the newspaper Vedomosti reported.
This will be Putin’s first visit abroad since the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for him for forcibly transporting children from Ukraine to Russia, a charge the Kremlin denies.
Putin today received Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi with whom he had talks in St. Petersburg.
Yesterday Nikolai Patrushev, secretary of the Security Council of Russia, said that Putin will meet in October in Beijing with Chinese President Xi Jingping with whom he will hold talks.
“In October, we look forward to detailed bilateral talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing,” Patrushev said at a meeting in Moscow with China’s most senior diplomat, Wang Yi.
In Beijing, Putin will take part in a forum on China’s Belt and Road initiative, according to Patrushev.
