The 15-year-old is believed to have rushed to the defense of her friend, who had rejected flowers and a love letter offered to her by the attacker.
The unfortunate Elianna was stabbed in the neck and chest and ended up on the spot, while going to school with her friend.
The perpetrator, who was known to organizations fighting violence between minors in the local community, was arrested an hour later on the local tram.
Previous murderous attacks on teenagers in London have mostly been knife attacks, but there have also been incidents of gunfire and arson.
