Russian President Vladimir “Putin is wrong if he thinks he will outlast us,” a White House spokeswoman said today when asked about Western support for Ukraine.

The Kremlin stated earlier today that the “fatigue” of support in Ukraine will grow over time in the West, the day after a tentative budget deal in the US Congress that sets aside funding for military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

The White House is in contact with allies and partners regarding possible delays in new funding to Ukraine, continued funding to that country, and those talks will continue, spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre said today.

Congress passed a law on Saturday that extends federal funding for more than a month to prevent a shutdown of public services, but does not include any new aid for Kiev.
