Former Republican Speaker of the House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy, who was removed from office on Tuesday after a member of his party impeached him, confirmed to reporters that he will not seek re-election.

“I fought for what I believed in,” said Mr McCarthy. “I think I can continue the fight, but maybe in a different way,” added the baron of the American right.
