At least 49 people, including a 6-year-old boy, were killed by a Russian missile in a village, in the Kharkov region, in eastern Ukraineas announced by local officials.

THE Oleh Shinebukhov head of the military administration of the region in Kharkiv said that Russian forces bombed a cafe and a shop in the village of Grozna in the Kupyansk region.

He said on Telegram that: “today, around 1:15 p.m., the Russians bombed a cafe and a shop in the village of Groza, Kupiansk regionwhere there were many civilians”.The rescuers continue their work in the area”said Shinebukhov in a post on the Telegram messaging app.

Other officials posted videos in which members of the rescue crews trying to climb the wreckagefrom where smoke is emitted. Dead bodies can also be seen between cement slabs and metal bars.

Interior Minister Igor Klimenko said residents of the small village of 330 they held a memorial service at the coffee shop that was hit.

“From every family, from every household, there were people at this event. This is a terrible tragedy,” Klimenko told Ukrainian television.

Seven people are also hospitalized after the attack, which appears to be the deadliest Russian attack on a residential area in weeks.

Currently it is not clear whether the Russian forces shelled the village with their artillery or if the attack was launched by a missile.

Zelensky said that “Russian terror must stop.” Earlier, in a Telegram post, he wrote that is discussing with its European partners “strengthening anti-aircraft defense” of Ukraine and “protecting the country from terror.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that “Russia needs these and similar terrorist attacks for one thing only: to make genocidal attacks a new norm for the whole world.”
