London police have increased their patrols in districts of the British capital after “a series of incidents related to the conflict” in Israel and Gaza, it announced on Saturday night into Sunday.

“We are aware of a number of incidents, including those shared on social media in relation to the ongoing conflict in Israel and on the Gaza border,” the Metropolitan Police said in a statement without elaborating on the incidents.

“Police have increased patrols in specific parts of London to ensure a visible presence and reassure our communities,” he added.

Immigration Minister Robert Jenrick posted a video on social media X showing people waving Palestinian flags in the street and honking their cars.

“These disgusting people glorify the terrorist activities of Hamas, a banned organization,” he wrote. “There is no place for that in the UK,” he added.

In its press release, London’s police said it was in contact with the authorities “to address any concerns”.

“Anyone experiencing threatening behavior or concerned about their safety is encouraged to contact the police,” he notes.
