Atrocities committed by Hamas during its attack on Israel mirror those of the Islamic State jihadist group, the Israeli prime minister said, describing executions of women and children in captivity.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday evening called on the opposition to form a “government of national unity”, recalling the Six-Day War (1967).
Describing unity as a “supreme duty”, he said that “the people are united and the leaders must also be united”. “I call on the opposition leaders to form a government of national unity immediately,” Netanyahu said in a televised speech.
Atrocities committed by Hamas during its attack on Israel mirror those of the Islamic State jihadist group, the Israeli prime minister said, describing executions of women and children in captivity.
“We have always known who Hamas is. Now the whole world knows. Hamas is the Islamic State. And we will defeat it as the enlightened world defeated the Islamic State. This terrible enemy wanted war and he will have war,” he explained.
He assured that when this war is over, the enemies of the Jewish state will realize that “it was a terrible mistake to attack Israel.” What they will suffer will haunt them “for many generations”, he argued.
In conclusion, he denied the information that the online edition of the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth (Ynet) reported earlier that the Egyptian intelligence services had warned Israel of an imminent threat from the Gaza Strip.
