In the following days, the traffic on the High Bridge of Servia will also be “opened” for heavy vehicles after the completion of the cantilever strengthening works in which problems were identified.

The technical crews carried out test loads, in order to verify the results of the local strengthening and their behavior under load of the specific points of the bridge.

Vehicular traffic on the Serbian Bridge will have certain restrictions, such as, heavy vehicles will cross the bridge at a speed of no more than 40 km and the distance between them will be 100 m.

Special equipment has also been installed, which will record the behavior of the bridge in normal traffic conditions throughout the 24 hours.

The bridge of the Serbs is the second largest bridge in the country after that of Rio and was built in 1975 when PPC built the Polyphytos dam, creating one of the largest artificial lakes in Greece. Let us recall that on March 17, 2023, for safety reasons, the passage of all vehicles was prohibited from the bridge, in order to carry out urgent restoration work on its cantilevers and their reinforcement with new steel tendons.
