Thousands of people demonstrated in Tehran today in support of the Palestinians, responding to the jihadist call of Hamas’ “Day of Rage” against Israel and the US.

The Iranian protesters held Iranian, Palestinian and Hezbollah flags, chanted slogans and held up banners reading “Down with America” ​​and “Down with Israel”.

Similar gatherings are taking place in other cities of Iran, where the protesters they burned American and Israeli flags.

Iran financially and militarily supports Hamas militants, while the organization has been designated a terrorist organization by the US and the European Union.
In fact, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian began a regional tour today, going to Iraq to rally the allies of the Islamic Republic.

He warned Israel that “new fronts” may open against this country if it does not stop bombing Gaza.

Pro-Palestinian protests in Iraq and Jordan

At Baghdad, a mass rally was held following a call by Shiite leader Moqtada Sadr “in support of Gaza” and against Israel. Moqdada Sadr belongs to the political opposition, but the Gaza support movement has the explicit support of the Iraqi government, as there is a consensus in Iraq in favor of the Palestinian cause.

The Iraqi government, which is backed by a parliamentary majority of parties close to Hamas ally Iran, said Saturday’s attack on Israel by the Islamist Palestinian movement was the “natural result of systematic oppression” to which the Palestinians “on the side of the Zionist occupation”.

In Jordan, hundreds of protesters tried to reach the border with Israel on foot but were pushed back by heavy police forces.

Jordan’s King Abdullah II warned today against “any attempt to forcefully displace the Palestinians or cause any movement of them.”

Abdullah II, who met today with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, assessed that “the crisis should not spread to neighboring countries and worsen the refugee issue”, a few hours after Israel, which is at war with Palestinian Hamas, asked residents of the northern part of the Gaza Strip to move south.
