The Palace of Versailles is being evacuated following a bomb threat, a police source said.

The alarm was raised following an anonymous tip on the moncommissariat.fr website, the source told AFP.

Versailles will not reopen to the public today.

Earlier, the Louvre, the world’s largest museum, closed its doors urgently “for security reasons” as France was put on high alert following Friday’s terror attack in Arras.

The Louvre received a text message that spoke of a danger to the museum and its visitors” and “we decided (…) to evacuate and close for today» in order to make the appropriate investigations, a spokeswoman explained.

The museum had earlier announced that it was closing, with a post on the X platform.
