The US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken returned today, Monday to Israel to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
State Department spokesman Matt Miller said Monday that Blinken discussed his commitments with partners in the region and was briefed on the situation. The minister underlined his firm support for Israel’s right to defend itself against Hamas terrorism and reaffirmed the US determination to provide the Israeli government with everything it needs to protect its citizens.
At the same time, he discussed with Prime Minister Netanyahu the close coordination of the United States with the UN and regional partners to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians and pledged the safe and speedy release of those held hostage by Hamas.
The US secretary of state also held meetings with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galand and opposition leader Yair Lapid.
