ATACMS (Army Tactical Missile Systems) missiles were fired today, and are being used for the first time in the nearly 20-month war in Ukraine, according to the Wall Street Journal. Politico also referred to the acquisition and deployment of the missiles, which it said were sent in recent weeks.
The State Department said it could not confirm the reports and referred questions about the military operations to the Ukrainian government.
The Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelesnsky said he confirmed that Kiev used the American missile.
“Today, we especially thank the United States. Our agreements with President Biden are being implemented. With great precision, ATACMS proved it” he declared in his speech this evening.

Kiev has repeatedly asked the Biden administration for ATACMS missile systems to aid the offensive and damage supply lines, air bases and rail networks in Russian-held territories.
