Biden’s visit will mark a major show of US support for its top ally in the Middle East after the Hamas attack
US President Joe Biden will travel to Israel today Wednesday, despite the cancellation of a four-way meeting with the leaders of Egypt, Jordan and the Palestinian Authority following the deadly strike on a hospital near the Gaza Strip.
As Aljazeera reports, Biden’s visit will mark a major show of US support for its top ally in the Middle East following the October 7 attack by Hamas in southern Israel.
The death toll on the Israeli side reached 1,400 on Tuesday.
Joe Biden expresses his “deepest condolences” to the victims
Joe Biden expresses his “deepest condolences for the innocent lives lost in the explosion at a hospital in Gaza” and wishes “a speedy recovery to the injured”, the White House announced yesterday.
The US president avoided commenting on who was responsible for the attack on the hospital that left at least 200 dead.
Hamas accused Israel of bombing the hospital. The Israeli military blamed the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
