The joint statements of the two leaders

Joe Biden

The American president assured that America will ensure that Israel he will have what he needs to defend himself.

“We must bear in mind that Hamas does not represent the Palestinian people” he emphasized. “I am deeply saddened and outraged since the explosion at the Gaza hospital yesterday,” he said.

“Based on what I saw, it looks like it was done by the other team, not you,” he clarified, addressing Netanyahu.

“I am deeply saddened and outraged by the explosion at the Gaza hospital yesterday. Based on what I’ve seen, it looks like it was done by another group, and not by you,” he noted, publicly backing Israel’s version of events.

But, the US president clarified, “there are a lot of people out there who aren’t sure.”

“I’m here for one simple reason – I want the people of Israel and the people of the world to know where the United States stands.”

Biden emphatically stated that Hamas “slaughtered” its victimsincluding 33 American citizens.

“They have committed diabolical things and atrocities that make ISIS seem somewhat more reasonable,” he said.

The US, added the American president, will ensure that Israel he has what it takes to defend himself.

Benjamin Netanyahu

“I want to thank you for coming here today and for the unquestionable support you have given Israel in these difficult times, a support that it reflects the overwhelming will of the American people,” the Israeli prime minister told Joe Biden in the joint remarks. “I see your support every day in the breadth and depth of cooperation we have had since the beginning of this war.”

Netanyahu called the cooperation “truly unprecedented”.

Netanyahu praised Biden for providing Israel with “the tools we need to defend ourselves” and “for the clear message you sent to our enemies not to test our resolve.”

He also pointed to the two US aircraft carriers sent by Biden “to back up those words with action.”

“But most of all, Mr. President, the world sees this support and moral clarity that you have shown since Israel was attacked.”

Netanyahu noted that Biden has drawn a clear line “between the forces of civilization and the forces of barbarism.”

The Israeli prime minister told the US president that Hamas’ crimes included rape, kidnapping, and the targeting of young children, commenting that the death toll is 1,400, perhaps higher.

“October 7 is another day that will go down as a day of infamy,” Netanyahu said. referring to President Roosevelt’s historic speech for Pearl Harbor.

“Just as the civilized world united to defeat the Nazis and to defeat ISIS, so the civilized world must unite to defeat Hamas,” Netanyahu remarked, stressing that Israel will defeat Hamas for “peace and security in region and in the world”.

Netanyahu also pointed out that Joe Biden is the first US president to visit Israel in wartime, calling it “deeply, deeply moving.”

“It speaks to the depth of your personal commitment to Israel. It speaks to the depth of your personal commitment for the future of the Jewish people and the one and only Jewish state”.

Netanyahu closed his remarks by thanking Biden for standing by Israel “today, tomorrow and forever”.
