Officials in Gaza claim that Al-Ahli Hospital was damaged by two Israeli shells four days ago, after which the IDF warned the hospital administration to evacuate the premises, CNN reports.

Youssef Abu Al-Rish, deputy health minister in Gaza, said two Israeli shells hit the hospital on Saturday.

Al-Ris said that the next day, the Israeli military contacted the hospital’s director, Dr. Maher Ayad, criticizing him for “not evacuating the facility.”

Al-Ris maintains that the IDF had told Ayad that the shells were a warning. “They said to the hospital director, we warned you yesterday with two shells, so why haven’t you evacuated the hospital by nowAl-Ris added.

CNN reports that it has reached out to the IDF for comment on the claim.
