The European Parliament posthumously awarded the Zakharov Prize for freedom of thought today to Makhsa Amini, as well as to the “Woman Life Freedom” movement that was drowned in blood by the regime in Iran.

The 22-year-old Iranian woman died in Tehran on September 16, 2022 – three days after she was arrested by police for not wearing her headscarf properly.

“The brutal murder of Gina Mahsa Amini marked a turning point,” said European Parliament President Roberta Metzola.

“Her death caused the outbreak of a women’s movement that entered History. The slogan “Woman Life Freedom” became a rallying cry for all those who defend equality, dignity and freedom in Iran,” he said.
