Eighteen airports in the regions of France were the target of new false bomb alarms this morning, ten of which were evacuated, according to the authorities who promise that the “vigilantes” who are the perpetrators of these messages, will be punished.

Since the start of this wave of threats on Wednesday, the operation of the major airports serving Paris, namely Charles de Gaulle and Orly, has not been affected.

“We’ll see from Wednesday an increase in bomb alarms;, of false alarms at our airports. And I want to make it clear, the tricksters and pranksters who engage in this kind of game are actually very stupid, and indeed very dangerous people.”he stated the French Minister of Transport Clement Bonn.

Just hours before the start of the autumn school holidays, air transport is being disrupted today for the third day in a row.

On Wednesday, 17 airports had received threats, of which 15 were evacuated. On Thursday, 25 airports were on alert and evacuation measures were taken at 19 of them, according to the minister.

Alerts today, after threatening messages were sent, “are generally over as we speak,” the minister added late in the afternoon.

“All those who think of making a bad prank, of scaring, let them know that this is an offense that is severely and heavily punished, that they will be identified and everyone among them will be punished. They risk two to three years in prison and a fine of tens of thousands of euros,” Bon stated.

The minister did not name the airports on alert today but an earlier report from an airport source said 14 facilities were affected and listed airports in Bordeaux, Béziers, Lille, Beauvais, Tarbes, Nantes, Brest, Toulouse, Carcassonne, Lyon-Bron, Pau, Nice, Biarritz and Rennes.

Many airports, such as at Bordeaux, Nantes, Lille, Toulouse, Carcassonne and Brest they later confirmed that they had received threatening messages, as in Perpignan and Basel-Milhouse.

However, the disruption was less severe today than on Wednesday, when some airports had flight delays of up to 3 hours.

The airport with the most delays today was in Nice-Côte d’Azur but due to bad weather conditions in the Alpes-Maritimes department in south-east France.
